ISAAC1 MORE, DEACON, HARTFORD FOUNDER was born abt. 1622 in England, and died bef. 21 May 1700 in Farmington, CT (not mentioned in wife Dorothy’s will). He married (1) RUTH STANLEY (Adopted by her father’s brother Timothy) 05 Dec 1645 in Hartford, CT, daughter of JOHN STANLEY and ELIZABETH UREDGE. She was baptized 11 Mar 1626/27 in Tenterden, Kent, England, and died 26 May 1691 in Farmington, CT. He married (2) DOROTHY SMITH aft 12 Aug 1693, daughter of HENRY SMITH and DOROTHY _____. She was born 1636 in Wethersfield, CT, and died Bef. 27 Apr 1706 in Farmington, CT (inventory).

Deacon Isaac More came to the colonies at age 13, listed on the passenger list of the “Increase”, of 15 April 1635 out of London in the company of Hartford Founder Matthew Marvin and his family, probably as a servant. He undoubtedly lived in the Marvin home. That he was probably a servant is reinforced by the fact that he is nowhere mentioned in the extensive will of Matthew Marvin, thus was not related to the latter. Servant status makes him a Founder.

He was in Hartford at least until December 1645, when he married Ruth Stanley, daughter of John Stanley. He had moved to Farmington in 1651, but had returned to Farmington by 1661. He was Deacon at Farmington by 1697.

He was Norwalk selectman 13 April 1654, and Deputy for Norwalk to the Connecticut General Court 1 October 1657.

He was on the Hartford petit jury 15 June 665, 10 October 1665, 17 October 1665, 5 April 1671, 6 December 1677, 20 April 1681, 13 December 1682, and 2 April 1684.
