FRANCIS1 ANDREWS, HARTFORD FOUNDER was born abt. 1615 in England, and died bef. 05 Mar 1662/63 in Fairfield, CT (inventory). He married ANNA SMITH bef. 1640 in Hartford, CT. She was born abt. 1619 in England, and died aft. 28 Feb 1673/74 in Fairfield, CT.

The ancestry, origin, and when and where Francis Andrews removed to the American colonies is unknown. Donald Lines Jacobus states in “Families of Old Fairfield” that Francis Andrews may have been the brother of William Andrews of Hartford and John Andrews of Farmington.

He was an original proprietor of Hartford, and in the land inventory of February 1639/40 he held: one acre and one rood on which his dwelling house stood with other outhouses, yards, and gardens located on the north side of the road from the Mill to the South Meadow; four acres and roods lying in the Forty Acres; three acres also in the Forty Acres; and two acres, one rood, and thirty perches lying in Hockanum (later East Hartford).

He removed to Fairfield, Connecticut after 1647.

His will was dated 6 June 1662, and was proved 5 March 1662/3
