The Founders of Hartford

Thomas Root,1 Salem, 1637, was an original proprietor at Hartford, in 1639, when his home-lot was on the east aide of the road to the Cow Pasture (North Main St.). He was a weaver; served in the Pequot War; removed, May, 1654, to Northampton, where he was one of the founders of the church; he d. there, July 17, 1694, at a great age
