The Founders of Hartford

Peter Blachford (Blatchford, Blackfield) was prob. at Hartford in 1639; for he had served in the Pequot War, and his heirs received a giant from the General Court, Oct. 12, 1671, of fifty acres for pay as a Pequot soldier; freeman, May, 1658; prob. removed to New London before that time; removed to Haddam about 1669; deputy from Haddam 1669-70. He m. Hannah, widow of Thomas Hungerford, and den. of Isaac Willey, of New London; d. in Haddam, Sept. 1, 1671.
