James Wakeley, perhaps son of Henry, who mentions a eon James in his will; one of the inhabitants who received lands “by the courtesie of the town ;” his home-lot was on the north aide of the road from George Steel's to the South Meadow, “which the Townsmen bought of Arthur Smith, and was parcell of his home-lott and now settled on James Waklie by the inhabitants of this town,” Feb. 1639-40 ; m. Oct. 5, 1652, Alice, widow of James Bousy; removed to Wethersfield, and thence to Newport, 1665; to 1680 he sent to Connecticut from Providence a petition for a divorce; his wife desired it also, but neither prevailed ; she d. 1683.
