The Founders of Hartford

William Pratt, an original proprietor and settler, supposed to have been brother of John; his home-lot in 1639 was on the east side of the road to the COW Pasture. Served in the Pequot War; in 1645 sold his land to Matthew Beckwith, and removed to Saybrook ; he was deputy from there 1666-1676; Lieut. in 1661. He m. Elizabeth, dart. of John Clark, of Saybrook.
