James Ensign (Ensigg), Cambridge, 1634; freeman, Mass., March 4, 1635; an original proprietor at Hartford,
1639 ; his home-lot was on the south aide of the highway now Elm St.; chosen constable, 1649, 1662; chimney-viewer,
1655 ; townsman, 1656. He and his wife, Sarah, were original members of the South Church, Feb. 12, 1670. He d. 1670;
